About
Greeting
Thank you for visiting the website of the Department of Regulatory Science / Department of Pharmaceutical Safety Evaluation, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nagoya City University.
Our laboratory is dedicated to the overarching goal of “delivering safe and effective medicines to society.” While drugs play a crucial role in supporting human health, they also carry the risk of side effects and unforeseen adverse events. Therefore, it is essential to scientifically elucidate pharmacokinetics—how drugs are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted in the body—as well as to establish appropriate methods for evaluating potential side effects.
Building upon the fundamental disciplines of pharmacokinetics, safety science, and toxicology, our laboratory not only generates experimental data but also organizes and systematizes this knowledge with the aim of contributing to international guidelines and regulatory frameworks. This endeavor, known as regulatory science, directly supports the development of new medicines and the improvement of medical safety, making it a research field of great societal significance.
Research is a challenge to open up the unknown, and it cannot be achieved alone. To our students, I encourage you to ask your own questions, engage in discussions with your peers, and pursue research with creativity and curiosity. I sincerely hope that our laboratory will serve as a place to nurture that spirit of inquiry and passion, and that you will grow into professionals who contribute to the future of medicine and society.
